St Thomas More

St Thomas More Catholic School

St. Thomas More Catholic School (“St Thomas More”) is a Roman Catholic Comprehensive School with academy status providing for the educational needs of 11-19 year old students. The school currently has over 1500 pupils on roll covering year 7 to year 13, with 170 staff working as part of the team.

St Thomas More opened as a secondary modern in 1967, and became a comprehensive in 1978 before converting to academy status in 2012. More recently the academy has converted to Multi Academy Status and is the lead academy in the St Thomas More Partnership of Schools, a Trust consisting of three schools; more than ever, they now have a need for a fully developed Business Continuity Plan (“BCP”) to service the continuity and risk needs of a growing Multi Academy Trust. There was some continuity documentation in place at St Thomas More in the form of a Risk Register. Biscon was engaged by St Thomas More to review what was in place, deliver a Business Impact Analysis (“BIA”) and to formulate the Business Continuity Strategy as defined in the BIA into a Business Continuity Plan (“BCP”). Biscon then facilitated a scenario-based exercise to test the BCP and allow members of the management team of St Thomas More to exercise their incident response roles.

James Thomson, Director of Finance & Corporate Services rated all aspects of our work as either good or excellent. He commented that “St Thomas More received excellent care, delivery and control from Steve Lambert, the Biscon consultant responsible for execution of the project.  I found the services of Biscon invaluable in assisting us design, implement and embed a process of Business Continuity within the Trust.”
